More than a word, concept or trend, sustainability to me is a way of life. It's in my DNA.
I grew up in Curitiba, Brazil, and actively participated in its transformation into "the most sustainable city in Latin America." On weekends, my grandparents would teach me how to reuse, upcycle and recycle as many materials as possible, and compost all of our food waste to successfully grow new fruits and vegetables. Years later, I moved to San Francisco, California, and again experienced firsthand the city transform into a green hub to hit its ambitious 2020 zero waste goal. Participating in these transformations has shaped my values, and my continued education on social, environmental and economic justice has enabled me to help others (people and brands) transition into more sustainable practices.
